So I’ve been dropping weight lately and swear my penis looks a little longer. Is this just in my head, or does losing weight actually make it look bigger?
u/BellyBlocker · 220 upvotes · 3 days ago
It’s not in your head. Fat around the pubic area builds up and hides some of the shaft. When you lose belly fat, more of the base becomes visible. Doesn’t actually grow, just gets “uncovered.”
u/VisualEffect · 102 upvotes · 2 days ago
Yep, basically an optical illusion. Average gain in visibility is like half an inch for every 30–40 pounds lost. Not actual growth, just reclaiming what was buried.
u/MathGuy · 61 upvotes · 2 days ago
There was a study ages ago about this — every 35 pounds lost equals about an inch regained in visible length. Don’t quote me on exact numbers, but it’s something like that.
u/ConfidenceBoost · 190 upvotes · 2 days ago
I dropped 50 pounds over a year. Not only did my penis look longer, but I felt way more confident naked. That psychological shift made sex so much better for both me and my partner.
u/PartnerHappy · 83 upvotes · 2 days ago
Same here. My girlfriend even noticed before I said anything. She thought I had gained size, but really it was just less fat covering it.
u/SkinnyTruth · 160 upvotes · 1 day ago
Important note: if you’re already thin, you won’t see any “gain.” This effect mostly helps guys carrying extra weight around their midsection.
u/LeanGuy · 77 upvotes · 1 day ago
True. I’ve always been slim, and my size never changed. But friends who lost 60+ pounds? Night and day difference.
u/DoctorOpinion · 240 upvotes · 3 days ago
I’m a physician. To clarify: the penis doesn’t get longer from weight loss. Fat in the suprapubic area (just above the penis) can make it appear shorter. Reduce that fat, and the penis looks larger because more shaft is exposed. Also, better blood flow from weight loss can improve erections.
u/ScienceNerd · 99 upvotes · 2 days ago
This. People underestimate how much lifestyle and circulation affect erection quality. Losing fat helps testosterone, too.
u/UsedToBeBig · 130 upvotes · 2 days ago
Lost 100 pounds. My penis legit looked like it doubled in length. Of course, it didn’t actually grow, but visually it felt like a transformation. Wish I’d done it years earlier.
u/LifeChanger · 70 upvotes · 2 days ago
Same! Once the fat pad shrinks, it’s a whole new look. Plus, stamina in bed improved since carrying less weight.
u/RealTalk · 145 upvotes · 1 day ago
One warning: rapid weight loss can leave extra skin in that area, which sometimes covers things up again. Slow, steady loss is usually better for both looks and health.
u/SkinConcern · 58 upvotes · 23 hours ago
Yeah, I had to deal with loose skin after dropping 80 pounds. Not terrible, but not the “perfect reveal” I was expecting either.
u/MindOverSize · 120 upvotes · 21 hours ago
Biggest benefit for me wasn’t the appearance but the confidence. Felt more masculine, more attractive, more willing to initiate sex. Sometimes perception is more powerful than actual size.
u/ScaleDropper · 260 upvotes · 4 days ago
When I hit my goal weight after losing 70 pounds, I was shocked by the difference. Never thought of myself as “small,” but the change in appearance was undeniable.
u/HiddenInches · 198 upvotes · 4 days ago
Exactly. People don’t realize there’s a fat pad above the penis that swallows length. When that pad shrinks, you reclaim what was already there.
u/OpticalTrick · 91 upvotes · 3 days ago
It’s kind of like shaving. You’re not actually growing, just making more visible. But the result is still confidence-boosting.
u/PartnerView · 170 upvotes · 3 days ago
From my perspective as a wife, my husband losing weight made his penis look bigger. He didn’t believe me until I showed him old photos. Night and day.
u/HappyTogether · 74 upvotes · 2 days ago
That outside validation matters. When your partner notices, it feels legit.
u/CardioBro · 155 upvotes · 2 days ago
Not only does it look bigger, but erections feel stronger too. Cardio and weight loss improved circulation. I never realized how much carrying fat dragged my testosterone down.
u/LooseSkinGuy · 122 upvotes · 2 days ago
Be prepared though: if you lose a lot of weight really fast, you might deal with loose skin. I had to start lifting to tighten up. Didn’t fix everything, but it improved how the area looked.
u/TightItUp · 55 upvotes · 2 days ago
Yeah, building core and pelvic muscles can help offset that sag. Makes things look firmer all around.
u/SlowAndSteady · 133 upvotes · 1 day ago
I recommend losing slowly. A pound or two a week. The body adjusts better, and you avoid the shock of major sagging. The “reveal” is way cleaner that way.
u/DoctorFacts · 210 upvotes · 3 days ago
Medical perspective: losing abdominal fat improves visible length and erection function. But there’s a ceiling—if you’re already lean, more weight loss won’t help. Instead, focus on pelvic floor strength and circulation.
u/NewDadShape · 280 upvotes · 2 days ago
After becoming a dad, I put on 40 pounds. Losing it later made me realize how much the fat pad had been hiding. Honestly, I looked an inch bigger just from trimming down.
u/BeforeAfter · 200 upvotes · 2 days ago
I took progress photos during my weight loss. The difference shocked me. Side view especially—it looked like I’d gotten a “boost” in size even though nothing physically changed.
u/CameraProof · 97 upvotes · 1 day ago
Photos don’t lie. That was my wake-up call too. What I thought was small was really just hidden under belly fat.
u/BetterBloodFlow · 180 upvotes · 1 day ago
Beyond looks, performance changes. Erections are fuller, orgasms stronger, and recovery faster. Turns out shedding fat helps circulation way more than I expected.
u/RealNumbers · 150 upvotes · 1 day ago
There’s an old rule of thumb: every 30–35 pounds lost can uncover roughly an inch of penis length. Not exact science, but it checks out for a lot of guys.
u/FactCheck · 71 upvotes · 1 day ago
Yep, it’s more about proportionality than literal growth. Still, the math motivates people.
u/ConfidentNow · 140 upvotes · 23 hours ago
Confidence boost was the best part for me. Losing weight made me feel better naked, which translated into better sex. My partner noticed my attitude change more than the size change.
u/LoosePants · 120 upvotes · 23 hours ago
Don’t forget how clothing fits. Dropping waist sizes makes bulges look different. Even in jeans, the area looks more pronounced after losing fat.
u/StyleShift · 60 upvotes · 22 hours ago
For real. Slimmer pants plus less belly = way better profile.
u/DocAdvice · 210 upvotes · 1 day ago
From a clinical standpoint: weight loss won’t extend penis tissue, but it does expose hidden length and can improve erectile health. Think of it as making the most of what you already have.
u/StillChubby · 240 upvotes · 4 days ago
I dropped about 25 pounds and didn’t see much difference. Is there a certain threshold where it actually shows?
u/WeightThreshold · 190 upvotes · 4 days ago
Yeah, usually it takes more. You need to reduce the fat pad above the penis. For me, it wasn’t noticeable until I’d lost around 50 pounds.
u/PatiencePays · 81 upvotes · 3 days ago
Same here. The first 20–30 pounds just slimmed my face and chest. Below the belt, changes came slower.
u/TrainerTalk · 210 upvotes · 3 days ago
As a personal trainer: most guys don’t realize where their fat is stored. If it’s mostly around the gut and pubic region, losing weight helps visibility. If you’re carrying fat elsewhere, it won’t change much down there.
u/RealistView · 160 upvotes · 3 days ago
Important to remember: losing weight won’t magically make you huge. It just reveals what’s already there. People expecting porn-star results will be disappointed.
u/ExpectationCheck · 70 upvotes · 3 days ago
Exactly. It’s about proportion. A smaller belly makes the penis look larger relative to the body.
u/LooseSkinAlert · 140 upvotes · 2 days ago
Big weight loss can leave skin folds that cover the area again. I lost 120 pounds and needed surgery to really see the full effect. Worth it though.
u/CardioKing · 155 upvotes · 2 days ago
I’ll say this: sex stamina went through the roof after I lost 60 pounds. Even if it didn’t look bigger, performance alone was a win.
u/DoctorClear · 230 upvotes · 3 days ago
From a medical angle: visible changes vary. Some men see a dramatic difference; others, barely any. But almost all benefit from better testosterone levels, blood pressure, and circulation. That alone improves sexual health.
u/OldSchoolTry · 260 upvotes · 5 days ago
Lost 80 pounds in my 40s. Honestly felt like a second puberty. My penis didn’t get longer, but it looked longer and hung better. Total confidence boost.
u/SkepticGuy · 180 upvotes · 5 days ago
Not trying to be negative, but I think people exaggerate. I lost 40 pounds and saw no difference at all. Maybe it depends on body type.
u/BodyTypeMatters · 95 upvotes · 4 days ago
You’re right — distribution matters. If fat isn’t concentrated in the pelvic area, weight loss won’t reveal much.
u/SuccessProof · 210 upvotes · 4 days ago
For me, it was night and day. Dropped 100 pounds, went from embarrassed to proud. My partner literally thought I had surgery. It was just the fat pad shrinking.
u/FashionShift · 150 upvotes · 3 days ago
Another angle: losing weight made clothes fit differently. Slim pants and less belly fat made the bulge look more pronounced. Even without visible length changes, the presentation changed.
u/MentalEdge · 170 upvotes · 3 days ago
What’s underrated is how much confidence plays into perceived size. When you feel leaner, you carry yourself differently. That vibe alone can make you seem bigger to a partner.
u/UrologyView · 290 upvotes · 5 days ago
Clinical take: the penis itself doesn’t grow. Weight loss simply reduces the fat pad, exposing more of the shaft. Combine that with stronger erections from better circulation, and it often feels like improvement.
u/FactShare · 110 upvotes · 4 days ago
Exactly. Science says it’s visibility + function, not growth. But the effect can still be life-changing.
u/FinalWord · 200 upvotes · 2 days ago
At the end of the day, losing weight is a win-win. Even if your penis doesn’t look much bigger, you’ll feel healthier, perform better, and live longer. Hard to argue with that.
